The Average Payment Plan can help reduce your high bills in summer and winter and make it easier to manage your monthly bill. The plan allows you to pay a monthly bill on the average cost of your most recent 12-month period. The amount due may vary slightly month to month but if you were signed up for Average Payment, your bill for this month would have only been Label and then every bill in the coming months would be close to that same amount. It’s not too late to sign up for your Label bill.

TOPEKA, Kan. – July 16, 2018 – Evergy announced its first major corporate gift today with a pledge of $2.5 million to development of a plaza in downtown Topeka, building on the legacy of its predecessor companies, Westar Energy and KCP&L.
“We are excited to be in the heart of Topeka’s downtown redevelopment, which is a testament to what public-private partnerships and community leadership can accomplish,” Terry Bassham, president and CEO of Evergy, said. “We are excited to support the plaza downtown with our first major gift as Evergy.”
Evergy was formed when Westar Energy and Great Plains Energy, which operates KCP&L, merged in June. The combined company will continue to serve customers as Westar Energy and KCP&L until sometime in 2019.
“Forming Evergy, we brought together two companies with strong ties and commitments to their communities to form a leading, locally controlled energy company,” Bassham said. “From employees volunteering their time and talents to corporate giving, we are committed to growing upon the reputations of our legacy companies.”
The plaza will include many features for use by the public including a water feature for children to play in that has the ability to turn into an ice rink in the winter months. Also included are a 30-foot digital screen fully equipped with sound and lighting and ample seating for people to enjoy being in Downtown Topeka
Construction of the Plaza at 7th and S. Kansas Ave. is scheduled to begin in early 2019 and be complete by March 2020.
