TOPEKA, Kan. – June 6, 2018 – Westar Energy will celebrate a new substation and completion of transmission upgrades in Atchison.
Representatives from Westar Energy, Atchison and the Amelia Earhart Foundation will gather at 1 p.m. June 13 at the new Amelia Earhart Substation at 5th & Q streets for a ribbon cutting. The $50 million construction project included a new substation and upgrades to the transmission system that serves Atchison. The project serves to improve reliability and power quality in the Atchison area as well as support future growth.
Construction began in the summer 2016 and was complete earlier this year.
