The Average Payment Plan can help reduce your high bills in summer and winter and make it easier to manage your monthly bill. The plan allows you to pay a monthly bill on the average cost of your most recent 12-month period. The amount due may vary slightly month to month but if you were signed up for Average Payment, your bill for this month would have only been Label and then every bill in the coming months would be close to that same amount. It’s not too late to sign up for your Label bill.

Topeka, Kan., Oct. 13, 2017 – Westar Energy will join the industry celebrating Careers in Energy Week Oct. 16-20. Several activities to spark students’ interests have taken place or are planned for October. Also, this week, Vault.com announced that Westar Energy interns once again voted us the No. 1 energy internship.
Careers in Energy Week raises awareness of the careers available in the energy field and the skills needed for success, celebrates those working in energy and identifies opportunities to introduce careers to students. On Sept. 22, Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback was joined by representatives from Kansas utilities and schools when he signed a proclamation recognizing Oct. 16-20 as Careers in Energy Week.
“We want students to be excited about the careers we offer and then help make sure programs are in place that ensure they are career ready,” said Steve Boyce, executive director, human resources. “Programs and partnerships with our area schools are among the most important things we do for our long-term success.”
During October, the following activities have taken place or are planned:
Oct. 10, Topeka – Corporate Bigs and Littles learned about conservation and get to handle some local wildlife.
Oct. 10 and 11, Wichita – Power Town safety demonstrations at the Sedgwick County Zoo for elementary students. On Oct. 10, our Safety Trailer was also on site for demonstrations.
Oct. 11, Wichita – Power Town safety demonstrations at the YMCA.
Oct. 12 and 13, Topeka – Electrify Your Future brought Topeka area high school students to tour our headquarters and learn about the careers we offer.
Oct. 14, Topeka – Westar Energy’s Safety and Training team will be at the Downtown Science & Technology Festival. They will have games for the kids, a light-bulb powered by a hand crank and a peek through photo scene so kids can see how they’d look as a line pro.
Oct. 19, Wichita – Power Up with Westar brings local Girl Scouts to our office to learn about STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers with hands on activities.
Oct. 24-26, Topeka – Seventh-graders from Topeka Public Schools will tour Education Station to learn about the energy grid that keeps power flowing.
Oct. 26-27, Wichita – Westar Energy volunteers join others to present Reality U! to students of Wichita South High School.
