The Average Payment Plan can help reduce your high bills in summer and winter and make it easier to manage your monthly bill. The plan allows you to pay a monthly bill on the average cost of your most recent 12-month period. The amount due may vary slightly month to month but if you were signed up for Average Payment, your bill for this month would have only been Label and then every bill in the coming months would be close to that same amount. It’s not too late to sign up for your Label bill.

Topeka, KS, Oct. 28, 2014 – Westar Energy is partnering with HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of home emergency repair service plans, to offer residential customers affordable emergency repair plans. These optional service plans offer protection against costly and inconvenient repairs to household electrical systems.
Westar Energy customers will have an option to purchase HomeServe’s Exterior Electrical Line Coverage and/or Interior Electrical Line Coverage. These two service plans cover the cost and facilitate repairs for emergency breakdowns to covered portions of the electrical equipment mounted outside the home and the wiring system inside. Both plans start at $4.99 a month.
HomeServe plan holders will have access to a Repair Hotline that is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to bring local, licensed, and insured contractors right to their home for repairs. The plans can save homeowners hundreds of dollars across a variety of electrical system repairs that are typically not covered by basic homeowners insurance or by Westar.
“While we have always covered repairs to our electrical service line and meter that connect customers’ homes to the power grid, we wanted to give our customers an opportunity to extend coverage,” said Hal Jensen, Westar Energy executive director of customer programs and services. “There may be instances when customers experience repairs on their equipment that require a licensed electrician. By partnering with HomeServe, we are able to offer our customers protection from many of those repair bill expenses and do so with a provider that also delivers best-in-class customer service.”
“Many homeowners may not be aware that they are responsible for repairs to most of the electrical components mounted on their homes,” said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe USA. “We’re pleased to have a partner in Westar that understands the importance of emergency preparedness and is actively working to educate their customers on their responsibilities and how they can affordably protect themselves.”
Westar Energy serves nearly 700,000 customers in eastern Kansas. Customers will receive details about the new program in the mail this month. For more information, contact HomeServe toll-free at 844-219-9213 or visit www.WestarRepairPlans.com.
