The Average Payment Plan can help reduce your high bills in summer and winter and make it easier to manage your monthly bill. The plan allows you to pay a monthly bill on the average cost of your most recent 12-month period. The amount due may vary slightly month to month but if you were signed up for Average Payment, your bill for this month would have only been Label and then every bill in the coming months would be close to that same amount. It’s not too late to sign up for your Label bill.

For more than 100 years, Westar Energy has been committed to moving Kansas forward by providing the affordable, clean and reliable energy Kansans need to power their lives. Advances in technology and changes in people’s lifestyles have resulted in enormous increases in energy use. But while there is an even greater demand for electricity every day, its cost has remained a genuine value. That’s because at Westar Energy we never forget that delivering affordable, safe and reliable energy to Kansas is critical in reaching the goal we all share of moving our state forward.
We work every day to keep your electricity one of the most affordable services in the country.
For more than half a century, we have asked, “What would benefit Kansas in the long run?” That led to implementing ideas such as proactively maintaining our existing infrastructure to increase its lifespan and pioneering a more effective and innovative treatment of wastewater at our Jeffrey Energy Center.
Our role in moving Kansas forward starts with generating electricity, but grows with action in our communities.
Supporting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education and completing more than 50 Westar Green Team projects each year are just a few of the ways we’re building a better future for our state.
The value of Westar-generated electricity helps make Kansas one of the most affordable places to live in the United States.
The value of Westar-generated electricity helps make Kansas one of the most affordable places to live in the United States. And the average cost to power all of the items in your home each day is roughly the same as a cup of coffee—about $4.
Kansas wins with a diverse energy mix.
By 2017, 25% of your community’s electricity will come from renewable resources such as wind and solar. A mixture of traditional fuel sources and renewable sources helps keep costs low and service reliable for all of us.
Two-thirds of Americans pay higher rates for their electricity than Westar Energy customers.
As electricity usage has skyrocketed, we work hard to keep its cost as low as possible while maintaining its reliability. We’ve managed to keep your costs lower than they are for two-thirds of Americans. We’ve made decisions to benefit Kansans over the long haul, not just the short term, and these decisions have helped to keep cost increases for electricity lower than just about any other product or service you might have purchased during the last 60 years.
Westar Energy is your power company, but we’re also your neighbors.
If you have questions about the decisions we make as your energy company, we would love to have a conversation with you. If you have a Westar Energy employee as a neighbor or friend, please strike up the conversation with them. You can also contact us directly by phone, email or direct mail, and you can engage with us on Facebook and Twitter.
