Where can I find my account number?

Your Westar Energy account number is located above the energy usage information on the top portion of your monthly statement. View.




Why do I have to create a username and password to access my account?

By creating a username and password, you ensure that only you maintain access to your account information. Westar uses your username and password to identify your online account once you login.


Username: Your username should start with letters (a-z). Only letters, numbers (0-9) and underscores(_) are allowed. Usernames must be a minimum of 6 characters and less than 20. Usernames cannot be repeated. If someone has already chosen your preferred username, another name must be chosen. No special characters are allowed. Usernames are case sensitive.

Password: Your password is only used to verify that you are accessing your online account, giving you privacy as long as you keep the password secret. Your password needs to be a minimum of 6 characters and less than 20. The password field accepts letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and underscores (_) only. No special characters are allowed. Passwords are case sensitive.





How do I maintain multiple accounts?

Many customers have multiple accounts. By adding accounts, you will be able to access multiple accounts with one username and password. Each account will need to be added separately after a username and password are established.


Additional accounts can be added by signing-in to 'My Account', selecting 'Profile' and then selecting 'Add Account'. Each username is limited to 30 accounts.





How secure is Westar online services

When logging into your account, the website communicates with a secure server to pass your information over an encrypted channel to ensure that your account information is safe.


Although you may not see https:// in the url field of your browser, we are indeed using a secure method of transmitting your information.




Am I automatically enrolled in paperless billing if I register for online services

When you sign up for Westar Energy online services, you will receive a monthly email reminder each month when your statement is ready for viewing. You have the option of continuing to receive a paper statement or electing not to receive a paper statement. Your online account has 13 months of statements available for viewing/printing. Westar encourages you to participate in paperless billing.



Who should I contact if I'm having troubles enrolling or accessing online services?

If you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer, these settings can generally be found through the Tools menu, Internet Options. To ensure you are always viewing the most updated web pages go to the General tab, Temporary Internet Files. Click Delete. Then click Settings and select Automatically.

Forgot my username

If you forget your username, click the Forgot Username? link under the My Account sign-in area. You will need your account number in order to complete the process. Once completed, we will send the username to the email address we have on file.



Forgot my password

If you forget your password, click the Forgot Password? link under the My Account sign-in area. You will be asked to enter your Login Name. After submitting you will be asked to answer your security question(s). Upon correctly submitting that information your password will be emailed to the address we have on record.





How do I change my email address?

To change the email address where we send your monthly account update, sign-in to your account, select 'Profile', enter the new email address and then click 'Update Profile'.



How do I update my phone number?

The phone number you have on file with Westar Energy is used to identify your account when you call to report an outage to 1-800-LIGHT-KS (544-4857). Your phone number is also used in case Westar would have to contact you for any reason. Update phone number.





What are my payment options?

Westar Energy allows online payment by checking, savings, debit, credit card and automatic bill payment. You can also pay by the above methods over the phone by calling our automated system or speaking with a customer service representative at 1-800-383-1183. Westar accepts payment by snail mail or at an authorized payment center. Payment methods.



Is paperless billing secure?

When you sign up for Westar Energy's secure online services, you will receive a monthly email reminder each month when your statement is available for viewing. The statement will direct you back to Westar Energy's website where you can login to view your monthly statement. When you sign up for paperless billing, we will discontinue sending a paper statement. Signing up for paperless billing is in fact more secure than continuing to receive a paper statement because you're preventing physical mail identity theft.



How do I pay my monthly bill automatically each month?

Westar's automatic bill payment plan is the most time efficient, convenient, dependable and least expensive way to pay your monthly energy bill.



Why is there a service charge for paying by credit card?

There is a $2.95 convenience fee for every $600.00 paid by debit/credit card. The $2.95 convenience fee is necessary to cover transaction costs for accepting payment by debit/credit card. There is no convenience fee for paying by savings, checking, or automatic bank plan.



If I enroll in paperless billing how will I view bill inserts?

Monthly bill inserts are still available by logging into our secure services at WestarEnergy.com. After logging in, select 'View Bill', next to each months statement, click on the link titled 'Featured services/information'.
