1. Introduction: Westar Energy, Inc. (“Westar”) is offering the Paperless Billing Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”). By entering this Sweepstakes, each entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these official rules. Westar Energy is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information whether caused by entrant error or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or used in the submission or processing of entries. Westar is the sponsor of the Sweepstakes. The official mailing address of Westar, for purposes of this Sweepstakes, is stated below under paragraph 3 of these Official Rules. By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Westar Energy, Inc, and its directors, officers, employees, agents and representatives from any liability, damages, or claims arising from participating in the Sweepstakes and the acceptance, use, possession, or forfeiture of any prize.


2. Eligibility: NO PURCHASE OR ONLINE TRANSACTION IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Must be a legal resident of the United States, 18 years of age or older as of May 1, 2012. A limit of one entry is allowed per Westar Energy account, or, if not a customer, one entry per individual. Persons submitting multiple entries determined to be submitted for the same account or from the same individual (who is not a customer) in violation of this rule will be declared ineligible; HOWEVER, a bonus entry will be provided for any customer who is signed up or who signs up for paperless billing and for monthly automatic recurring payments (Automatic Bank Plan). Employees of Westar Energy or its subsidiaries and affiliated companies, and their families (defined as parents, spouse, children, and siblings) and those living in the household of same (whether related or not) are not eligible to enter. By entering this Sweepstakes, entrants agree to abide by all terms and conditions of these Official Rules. The laws of the United States apply to and govern this Sweepstakes, and all federal, state and local rules and regulations apply. Void in Puerto Rico, all U.S. territories and possessions and overseas military installations, and where prohibited or restricted by law.


3. How to Enter: There are three (3) ways to enter the Sweepstakes: (1) enroll for Paperless Billing by logging in and accessing your account on Westar Energy’s website; or (2) if you are a Westar customer who is currently enrolled for paperless billing, you will be automatically entered into the sweepstakes; or (3) All others may enter this Sweepstakes by Write-In Entry, by sending a 4” x 6” index card with their name, home address, valid e-mail address, Westar Energy account number (if a Westar Energy customer), addressed to: WESTAR ENERGY, INC. PAPERLESS BILLING SWEEPSTAKES, 818 S. Kansas Ave., P.O. Box 889, Topeka, KS 66601. We do not accept entries from a third party or entries sent in bulk. All entries must be received by August 31, 2012. All entries become the exclusive property of Westar and none will be acknowledged or returned. Proof of sending or submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Westar. Westar is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, illegible, misdirected, or postage-due entries, which will be disqualified.


4. Sweepstakes Period—Start/End Dates: The Sweepstakes begins on May 1, 2012 at 12:01 a.m. (CDT), and ends on August 31, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. (CDT) (the “Sweepstakes Period”). During the Sweepstakes Period, Westar will have three (3) drawings.

    · Deadline for entries to be considered for the 1st drawing is June 30, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. (CDT).
    · Deadline for entries to be considered for the 2nd drawing is July 31, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. (CDT).
    · Deadline for entries to be considered for the 3rd drawing is August 31, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. (CDT).


5. Prizes: Thirty-three (33) total prizes will be awarded, as follows:
    Each drawing (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) will select one (1) winner of a $500 gift card, and ten (10) winners of a $50 gift card each.
    Winners will be randomly selected from entries received as of the deadline dates of the drawings. All taxes, fees and surcharges on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. Only one (1) prize per entrant will be permitted.


6. Prize Notification: The drawings to award the prizes will take place on or about the following dates: July 9, August 9, and September 11, 2012. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. The entrant named on each winning entry will be considered the winner. Each winner must be located and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility within 30 days or Westar will select an alternate winner. Winners will be notified by e-mail or U.S. Mail within 48 hours following the drawing. If the winners cannot be contacted within 14 calendar days of first notification attempt, if prize notification is returned undeliverable, if winner rejects his/her prize, or in the event of noncompliance with these Sweepstakes Official Rules and requirements, such prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries. Upon prize forfeiture, no compensation will be given. Winners have seven (7) business days to claim their prizes. In the event of a failure to claim or other ineligibility, alternate winners will be selected. All prizes will be awarded.


7. Prize Acceptance and Publicity: Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to use winner’s name and photograph for Westar Energy advertising and promotional purposes, unless prohibited by law.


8. Winner Names: The winners’ names will be posted on the Westar Energy website, at westarenergy.com when prizes are awarded. If you do not have internet access and wish to have the prize winner names sent to you by U.S. Mail, please send your written request and include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, by October 31, 2012.
