The Kansas Corporation Commission's Complaint Procedure
If we are unable to resolve your concerns to your satisfaction, Kansas law allows you to file a complaint with the Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC), the state agency responsible for regulating public utilities.
The KCC has established an informal and formal complaint procedure to address problems between public utilities and their customers. A detailed description of the KCC complaint procedure is available on their website at: http://kcc.ks.gov/pi/complaints.htm.
Informal Complaint Procedure
The KCC resolves most utility complaints through the informal complaint process. You may call, e-mail, write or contact in person the Consumer Protection Office of the KCC.
Informal complaints should be directed to:
Kansas Corporation Commission
Consumer Protection Office
1500 SW Arrowhead Road
Topeka, KS 66604-4027
Toll-free Utility Helpline: 1-800-662-0027.
Local: 785-271-3140.
Email: public.affairs@kcc.ks.gov
Formal Complaint Procedure
If the informal complaint process fails to produce a satisfactory resolution, or if you are dissatisfied with the outcome, you have the right to file a formal complaint with the KCC. A formal complaint must be in writing. Forms and instructions for filing a formal complaint can be obtained by contacting the KCC's Consumer Protection Office as provided above.
