Energy Savings can grow on trees

1.Plant Deciduous trees (those that shed leaves in the winter) on the west and southwest sides of the house. In the summer, they'll shade the roof and walls of your home, like natural air conditioning. In winter, bare branches will let the sunshine through to warm the house.

2.Evergreens planted to the north and west of your house create a windbreak against cold winter winds and save you energy dollars.

3. Select foundation plantings to create an insulating "dead air space" around the base of your house.
