Life Support Program

If a member of your household depends on approved special medical equipment that requires electricity, we can alert them to planned outages, provide special instructions for coping with unplanned outages (storms, equipment failure, etc.) and suggest alternative emergency energy supply equipment.


The following information is needed to qualify for the Life Support Program:
  • Information must be provided in writing on a doctors letterhead
  • Customers name
  • Address (including city and state)
  • Westar Energy account number
  • Physician's name and signature
  • Life support device
  • Disability or illness
  • Name of family member affected
   The letter may be faxed to 316-261-6615 or mailed to:
       Westar Energy
       PO Box 208
       Wichita, Ks 67201-0208


The program is not designed:
  • To avoid disconnection for non-payment of a bill
  • For unplanned outages
