There are a number of other reasons that power can be interrupted. Procedural errors, load transfer, routine maintenance and company damage account for a small amount of miscellaneous power interruptions.
At times, routine maintenance (replacing older equipment) requires that we temporarily disconnect power to a customer's home. If possible, we contact customers ahead of time to let them know when they will be without power.
During a power interruption, sometimes it is necessary for us to take a group of customers off line so that we can bring up a neighboring circuit, this is called load transferring.
