Program Goals for Realtors:

  • Ability to recognize and react to customer trends and preferences for green home features in new construction and remodeling/retrofitting of existing homes.


  • Develop knowledge base of energy efficient heating and cooling systems, appliances, building methods, and materials.


  • Ability to explain the benefits of an energy audit and direct clients in obtaining one.


  • Assist clients in evaluating the cost-benefit of green home features and actions including impact of energy efficiency upgrades and other cost saving measures.


  • Discuss green home principles and actions and respond to consumer preferences for green home features in new construction and remodeling/retrofitting of existing homes.


  • Ability to assess green-home features when developing a price-proposal/offer for a seller or buyer.


  • Recognition of the cost/benefit value of green-home features in marketing properties.


  • Educate clients of green gardening, and landscaping options.


  • Recognize sources that impact indoor air quality, air changes, home leaks and the environment.


  • Guide clients in selecting energy-efficiency appliances and disposing of old ones.


  • Identify coalition partners in the community that promote "green" practices.


  • Compile information on green resources and programs in the community.
