BUILDING OPERATOR CERTIFICATION TRAINING
Westar Energy is licensed by the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) to offer Building Operator Certification® (BOC) training in Kansas.
BOC training is a nationally recognized competency-based program for building operators and maintenance staff who are responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operation of large buildings with complex heating, mechanical and electrical systems.
All commercial and industrial customers of Westar Energy are eligible to enroll in BOC training.

With Building Operator Certification, you gain the potential to save thousands of dollars every year on your facility's energy bills.
Additionally, Westar Energy will sweeten the deal by offering to reimburse half of your tuition. All we require of you:
- Attend all scheduled classes in the training series.
- Complete all in-facility projects.
- Pass all class exams (tests are open-book).
- Complete the certification application.
Upon certification, you will receive a $575 reimbursement toward the $1,150 tuition.
Tuition reimbursement is available for both Level I and Level II training.
BECOME THE EXPERT
The Building Operator Certification training includes a series of courses on energy- and resource-efficient building operations and maintenance taught by experts in the field.
The program is designed for building operations and maintenance personnel who are interested in improving their skills and increasing the efficiency and comfort level of their buildings.
BOC certification also provides professional development credentials for building operators, and offers employers a means for identifying skilled employees.
By obtaining knowledge through BOC, you equip yourself to help your company make wise energy efficient decisions and develop practices that can affect your company's bottom line.
GET CERTIFIED
The following two levels of certification will be available through the Building Operator Certification program. Each level typically takes five to seven months to complete.
Level I: Requires 56 hours of in-class training with exams and five projects.

Level II: Requires Level I certification plus 49 hours of additional in-class training with exams and three projects.

Participants are provided with in-depth reference manuals, as well as access to BOC's network of participants, experts and resources to leverage for troubleshooting, best practices and advice.
