At Westar Energy safety is our number one priority. We expect our employees to be safe when working with electricity, and we also expect our customers to be safe while using electricity.

We offer three programs to help teachers with promoting electric safety to students:

Kindergarten-2nd Grade

Our first program, "Kato's Electric Safety Video Adventure," is targeted for students in kindergarten through second grade. This presentation, which will be personally presented to your students by a Westar Energy employee, includes a DVD that helps students recognize potential electrical dangers in their house and how to avoid them. The presentation is approximately 20 minutes in length, including the nine-minute video.

3rd-6th Grade

The second program, "The Shocking Truth About Electrical Safety," is designed for students in third through sixth grade. This presentation, also delivered in person, teaches students how to spot electrical danger and avoid injury. It is approximately 30 minutes in length, including a 17-minute DVD.

Any age student

The third program, "Power Town," is designed for any age student. This presentation helps students recognize electrical dangers outside their homes and in their neighborhoods. This program, presented by an employee with a journeyman lineman background, is an electrical display board and demonstrates how to avoid dangers and injury. The presentation will take approximately 30 minutes.

If any teachers at your school would like a Westar Energy employee to present one of these programs, please contact us.
