Jeffrey Energy Center Fishing Regulations


  • Fishing is permitted on two of the three JEC lakes: Make-up Lake and Auxiliary Make-up Lake, daily from one-half hour before sunrise to sunset. Handicapped-accessible fishing docks exist at both lakes, and one handicapped-accessible bird blind is available at Auxiliary Make-up Lake.


  • Swimming and recreational boating are prohibited.


  • Fish feeders are provided with equal access to all. Baiting and chumming, except at the feeding stations is prohibited.
  • Fishing boats are allowed but must meet state boating regulations, including the provision of lifejackets and preservers for each occupant. 20 mph maximum boat speed.


  • Fish cleaning on site is limited to removal of entrails which must be disposed into the lake; no heads or tails may be removed.


  • Bank and troll lines are prohibited.


Fish size and creel limit:

Harvest of all other species is governed by the State of Kansas size and creel limits.

* Largemouth bass - 15" minimum length, 1 per day.

* Smallmouth bass - 15" minimum length, 1 per day.

* Channel catfish - No size limits, 10 per day.

* Flathead catfish - No size limits, 10 per day.

* White bass - No size limits.

* Walleye - 18" minimum length, 5 per day.

* Crappie - No size limits, 50 per day.

* Wiper - 2 per day
