Jeffrey Energy Center Wildlife Area 2

Security Area - Due to increased security, wildlife areas 2 and 3 will close when the U.S. Department of Homeland Security elevates the threat advisory to High (orange level) or to Severe (red level).

  • A restricted access area available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Area 2 may be accessed only through the main entry gate. A guard is posted 24 hours a day. Stop at the gate, leave your driver's license with the guard, sign a log book, obtain a copy of regulations and map, and receive a colored badge to be worn visibly at all times until departure.

A white vehicle flag must be displayed from your vehicle's window at all times. Licenses for those 15 years of age or younger are not required; however, at least one person in the hunting or fishing party must be 18 or older and will be accountable for badges issued to those younger than 18.

    • Waterfowl hunters - Brown badges

    • Upland game hunters - Orange badges

    • Anglers - Blue badges

    • Deer hunters - Tan badges

    • Hikers - Yellow badges

  • Badges are required in lieu of written permission for Area 2 access. Upon departure, game and fish will be counted, badges collected by the guard and licenses returned. Individuals who fail to return badges will be assessed a $10 penalty to redeem their driver's license.

Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Hunting regulations apply. Along with the following:

  • High-powered rifles are only allowed during the Special Youth Deer hunt; shotguns are the only firearms allowed for all other hunting.

  • The number of hunters and anglers allowed at any one time is based on annual fish and game population evaluations.
